GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — A magician and comedian has canceled performances at libraries in northeastern Wyoming since of on line and phoned in threats above a social media put up about her staying a transgender lady, she said.
The Campbell County Library posted on its Facebook page that Mikayla Oz, 24, was cancelling demonstrates planned for Wednesday and Thursday in Gillette and Wright out of basic safety problems for herself, library team and patrons, the Gillette Information History claimed.
The reality that Oz is a transgender female was shared on a social media article, foremost to misinformation about her performances and phone calls to protest the activities, library officials stated.
Oz, who is from Des Moines, Iowa, has done at libraries, educational institutions and other occasions. She says the clearly show she prepared is household helpful and doesn’t have an LGBTQ message.
She was originally inclined to do her exhibit despite some issues, but then she began getting violent and scary threats on the web and by phone, she stated.
Library director Terri Lesley stated her employees also received threats by a patron.
Oz’s gender id was not earlier regarded to library workers, nor is it some thing they consider appropriate, Lesley explained.
“It just breaks my heart, specifically when my present has completely nothing to do with my back tale at all,” Oz said.
